Entertainment One has launched a CAD$100 million (US$93.5 million) film acquisition fund, as the distributor targets worldwide rights on commercial films.

The new coin comes as former StudioCanal exec Harold van Lier (pictured) arrives as president of Entertainment One Films International.

Van Lier’s arrival follows the departure of Sally Caplan as managing director of eOne Films International. eOne Films International has also negotiated new production financing from City National Bank and OneWest Bank for projects in which it is a major investor.

eOne Films International is also looking to increase its direct distribution efforts, focusing on the UK market, where Alex Hamilton is managing director of eOne Films UK, and other foreign territories.

eOne’s recently distributed documentary projects have included Watermark and The Secret Disco Revolution.
